Tokyo's Best Cycling Routes

Looking for a route that explores Tokyo's natural beauty, traditional culture and unique cycling attributes? Livelo has mapped out a selection of the best options to suit a wide variety of riders and riding opportunities.

The rides are based in the northeastern part of the city, starting in the Narita district, which is the best location for cycling in Tokyo. This area has many fine hotels and we suggest you consider staying in the area as we are able to deliver your bike to your hotel if you are saying in this zone.

Of course, the routes are just recommendations, please use judgment in selecting your riding route and always ride within your limits and to the road conditions of the day.

TOKYO: 215km Olympic RIDE (217.32km / 135.83mi) - 11hr

As host of the 2020 Olympic games, road cycling fans will get to see the world's best riders tackle the punishing Olympic road course to Tokyo’s south-west.

TOKYO: 35km RIDE (35.02km / 21.89mi) - 2hr

This route is specially designed to guide you from the airport through the nearby woods and rice fields to the outskirts of Narita town and back to the Airport. You will pass behind the AEON shopping mall and get a glimpse of the top of Narita temple on the way.

TOKYO: 50km RIDE (50.82km / 31.77mi) - 2.5hr

This 50km ride provides long sections of cycling pleasure with minimum traffic signs or signals.
Excellent course to use as a TT route for high-speed training. You can easily extend the route to work on your distance by following the cycling path along the Tone river all the way to the Eastern tip of Chiba.

TOKYO: Standing Buddha 120km RIDE (118.95km / 74.37mi) - 6hr

The Standing Buddha ride will take you through a varying landscape of rivers, rice fields, woods and rolling hills. You might do a double take when passing by the fully functional Dutch windmill along the way. Don't forget to bring your camera for this one.
